Kool Aid and Flavor Aid are American drinks that come in the form of dried powder in a small sachet. The powder is made up with sugar and water to create vibrantly coloured drinks that many enjoy. Even more fun for us spinners and knitters is the fact that these vibrant colours can be set permanently into animal fibres! Using Kool Aid is a great introduction to dyeing. It comes in a fantastic range of colours and, since it is food safe, there is no need for loads of special equipment. The powder also already includes citric acid, so no need for extra chemicals. The process is fun in a group and easy enough for kids (with a little adult help on the stove top).
Not sure what to knit with it? Included in the kit is a simple fingerless glove pattern designed to showcase your creation.
