There are 6 of these square plastic components, 2 of each design. They were originally double strung as a bracelet. The purple color caught my eye as well as the raised medallion-like motifs. There's a slight black marbled effect to the purple. Depending on your point of view, the designs could be Celtic, Asian, Moorish, and so on, they're just classic. Since they were part of a bracelet there are small holes on two sides, which I have positioned at the top and bottom of each pin. Each design is being listed separately. 1 1/2" across and 1 3/4" north to south including the pin.
The chains have been removed and a neodymium magnet* has been attached to convert them for use in Portuguese knitting. An inner magnet is backed with a metal disc which is, in turn, backed with felt for comfort against the skin. It is slipped inside your top to secure the pin.
The hook has been hand formed to fit the back. It is sturdy and stationary making it easy and quick to place and remove the yarn.
Please remember these are conversions. There may be remainders of the original fittings that couldn’t be removed without damage.
*Those with medical electronic devices should check on the use of these magnets.
If you’re buying more than one item, put them into the shopping cart for combined shipping charges at checkout. It’ll be less than purchasing them individually. This is particularly effective for international buyers. If you have a friend or friends who also do Portuguese knitting, purchasing a few pins at the same time adds only a few dollars to the initial cost, and when divided among several people, brings the shipping charges down to a manageable amount when shipped to one address.
I love this magnetic knitting pin! As advertised it had a great magnet so problem knitting with it. I put a fair Mount of tension on my yarn so I was concerned but not disappointed! Highly recommend for Portuguese knitting.
