How to Download your Pattern:

Once you purchase this pattern and your payment has been processed you will receive an e-mail from Etsy containing a link to download the pattern. It will be sent to the e-mail address you have registered with Etsy.

You will receive a PDF file containing instructions on how to make the knitted 'The Juniper Cowl'. Please have a PDF reader program such as Adobe installed on your computer to open the file.

Please note, this PDF does NOT include step by step photos, and is a written pattern, with no chart included. This PDF file contains written instructions in American Knitting Terms.

There are NO RETURNS on patterns.

I’ve named this cowl after the Juniper Trees at the Grand Canyon, because of the cowl’s many cables that interweave and twist around the wearer, just like the Juniper trees twist with the prevailing winds, growing out of dry rocks. The trees are known in folklore for their protective and healing powers. In this same way, this tall, chunky cowl will protect you from the cold winds :)

This scarf is knit in a super-bulky yarn with large, twisted cables. It is knit flat, then seamed together to make a loop using Kitchener stitch for an invisible seam.

- Super-Bulky Yarn (5-6 wpi), Approx. 270 yards, 247 meters
- Size 9mm/US13, 24 in circular knitting needles, or long knitting needles
- Cable Needle
- Optional: Size 9mm/N Crochet Hook (for provisional cast-on)
- Scrap yarn (for provisional cast-on)
- Tapestry Needle

Finished Dimensions:

Measurements: 32 in (81 mm) circumference, 10 in (25.5 mm) height (top to bottom)

Skill Level: Easy/ Advanced Beginner

Prerequisite Skills:

Provisional Cast-On
Kitchener Stitch

A Note About Kitchener Stitch:

I recommend becoming familiar with the kitchener stitch before starting this pattern. If it’s too tricky, you may cast on and off and seam the ends together in your preferred method, however, other methods will leave a visible seam (unlike the kitchener stitch).

I loved this pattern so much, and it was fun making it. I didn't use the kitchener stitch to piece it together as was suggested by the pattern but my cowl still looked really great! I would highly recommend this pattern to everyone, you'll be happy with your results.
