Chart available as an e-pattern, you will be purchasing the downloadable PDF.
This is the first in a series of five charts based on an original Mexican Sampler stitched by Maria Ceron in 1830. You may choose to start this series one of 2 ways. The first option is to stitch it as I have, making a mini sampler or hornbook. Alternatively, you may stitch the whole sampler. Directions are included in each of the five charts.
Stitched on 36 count “Lentil” by Lakeside Linens. This design as stitched in the photo measures 100 x 75 stitches. If stitching the entire original sampler it will measure 385 x 279.
Cross stitch Using 2 strands of floss over 2 linen threads throughout. If desired finish edges of sampler using Nun’s Stitch to prevent fraying, I used Crescent Color’s “Caramel” for this stitching and started 18 threads out from the border of the design all around. Furniture tacks were used to attach the sampler to the hornbook. The hornbook is made for this design by Pricilla’s Pocket.
