Natural untreated stone. This is a very large pink streaked picture jasper that I thought was too beautiful to not turn into a cabochon. It reminds me of a planet that has yet to be discovered. It is a round picture cabochon with with pink and red streaks polished to a glass like finish on both the front and back. It measures a little over 2 inches in diameter. It weighs 416 grams.
I hand cut all my cabochons utilizing traditional methods. The top is domed with a flat polished bottom. There is an angled girdle (making it easier to set in both bezel and cold settings) and the bottom edge is lightly bezeled (making the stone less likely to chip or break if used in a bezel setting). The backs to my stones are also finished and polished allowing you to display either the back or front of the stone. My cutting style is a thick cut, high shine (to the degree the material allows).
