Item details

A hundred-year-old mouse tiptoes across the top of this golden-colored gift box, while watchful black cats wait below. How does a mouse live to be a hundred? By being very, very, very quiet. Vintage art gives an especial charm to this package. The pattern I created behind the silhouettes is echoed on the inside.

A complimentary gift tag is included.

This box is handsome as is... no need for further trimmings!

Commercial use allowed! Included Etsy Entrepreneur License entitles you to print and sell up to 100 boxes at your vendor's table or event. For an Extended License, please convo me.

2 1/2" cube box

Backing pattern included if you wish to print both sides (elegant).

4 Files included for maximum creativity:

Print at 300dbi (best quality) on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of good sturdy bright white card stock. I recommend 110#. Staples has a lovely 110# stock that takes ink brilliantly (box was printed from png files). If you do not have a decent printer, please use a copy/print service such as Staples, Kinko's, Copy Central, etc. for best results.

This is a digital item; no physical art will be sent (no waiting for the postman). You will receive an email when payment is confirmed, and a link to your Completed Orders page where you can download immediately or at your convenience.

Print as many as you need!

Designed for small gifts, where you want the package to be as special as the recipient. No paper or ribbon required!

Please convo me if you need a different design or other sizes (I may already be working on them).

Tips for easy and exact box assembly (see last photo for box assembly area):
[After printing/testing the first batch of boxes, I modified the template for better tabs and easier construction. First image shows what you receive.]

Score where needed BEFORE cutting. A >dry< ball-point pen, backside of knife, or even a round toothpick will work, if you don't have a stylus. You want to INDENT but not cut the fibers. This is tricky and frustrating to do after a shape full of tabs is cut out... so score first.

Use fresh blades in X-acto or similar cutter, against a metal-edged ruler, on a self-healing cutting mat for crisp, straight, clean cuts. (Yes, you can use scissors if you have a steady hand.) I bought a box of 100 #11 blades several years ago, which makes it easier to swap in a new blade as needed. Dull blades are dangerous! Glasses or magnifier can protect the eyes if a tip breaks from pressing too hard, however, it is better to use a good blade and light hand.

Fold everything before gluing, and test-fit if unsure of how the box goes together.

Glue where designated. For a cube, glue the sides before the bottom. Any good white glue will work; I like Aleen's Tacky Glue because it dries quickly without slippage, cleans with water, and doesn't burble the paper. I drizzle the glue, smear it thinly and evenly over the tab with a finger, rinse the fingertip in handy bowl of water (see photo), dry on a paper towel... at which point the glue is just tacky enough for a good bond. If you accidentally get a bit of glue where you don't want it, a bit of damp paper towel applied before it has dried will remove the evidence. ;)

Be patient and let the glue dry before using the box.

Score, Cut, Fold, Glue. Simple, yet excellent results if done in the right order.

FAQs

These are digital products, which means no payment of shipping fees and no waiting for the mail. Immediate gratification. ;) Since I'm not sending actual printed paper, there is no worry about bent envelopes or warping caused by humidity. Upon payment, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to your own DOWNLOADS page. This is almost instant. You can also go directly to your Completed Orders page and see your downloadable files there. There should be 2 files for each sheet, .jpg and .png with transparency. I have saved these images with maximum quality. You can download your files at your own convenience. In case of computer hiccups, I do recommend that you save a copy somewhere.

Etsy does not allow for refunds or exchanges on digital files, which makes sense since you can't really return an electronic item. If by chance you order the same item twice, let me know and we'll work something out. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Please ask any questions before purchase. I try to show exactly what you will receive (minus the watermarks), by showing a view of the sheet itself and close-up samples showing a selection of icons and suggested use. I describe the items, the number, size, and distribution of designs as clearly as possible. Please review your order and ask any questions, especially if something seems unclear, before purchase. I want you to buy with confidence and be happy with your decision.

You are licensing the use of these images in YOUR OWN artistic creations. Apply them to jewelry, buttons, magnets, cards or collages, decorate a box or ornament or frame, scrapbooks, calendars, whatever. You have the right to keep, give, or sell your finished products (whether at art & craft fairs or online). You may reprint and reuse these designs as many times as you want, but distribution must be as an END PRODUCT. You may not publish or distribute the images "as is" (digital or printed sheets), as a supply, in kit form, as part of a template, or publish them for the use of others on any print-on-demand site (Zazzle, Cafepress, etc.). You may not distribute the images on a website, network, CD, etc., for free or for pay.

Copyright is not transferred with the purchase of these designs. I retain their copyrights. You are purchasing the right to use the image, not to own the image. Images are non-exclusive, which means that others may also purchase and use the same image for competitive or other purposes. If you wish custom sheets with exclusive rights (for example: an organization, club, or school), let's discuss it. I'm happy to make something special just for you.

I add a couple of pixels to the size, for example 305 pixels instead of exactly 300, so that users have some wiggle room if their printer is not accurate or their hands less than steady while cutting. When printed at 300dpi, this is about 1/32" all around. You should have no white showing around your image. If you are using a circle cutter, simply center the image and you are good to go.

The design in the middle of the "16" page is full size for "inchies" and unwatermarked. That is what you will receive. [Please note that I save at highest quality. Etsy does recompress the files in the listing.] If you wish to download and cut out that centered sample image, and "take it for a test drive" (see what it looks like under glass in a pendant), you are welcome.
