SIZE

14ct Aida / 28ct Linen: approximately 6 1/2” (or 17cm) in width and height
16ct Aida / 32ct Linen: approximately 5 3/4” (or 15cm) in width and height

The measurements for linen were calculated assuming a cross is stitched over two threads.

MATERIALS NEEDED

AIDA OR LINEN: I designed this pattern to be stitched on Aida NR 14 or 16, or linen evenweave material, 28ct or 32ct. When stitching on the larger count, your work will be slightly smaller and finer. The pattern measures approximately 6 1/2” in width and height (or 17cm) when stitched on Aida NR 14 or 24ct linen.

I would recommend cutting a piece of Aida or linen no smaller than 10” (or 25cm) in both height and width.

DMC MOULINÉ STRANDED COTTON: The pattern contains a graph with symbols and DMC colours needed. This chart uses 9 colours.

EMBROIDERY HOOP: I designed this pattern to be framed in a 7” (18cm) embroidery hoop. This should be possible with both 14 or 16 count Aida and 28 or 32 count linen.

NEEDLE: Tapestry needle NR 26 or NR 28, whichever works best for you. It’s worth buying a good needle: a roughly made needle can fray the floss, and will result in knots and broken threads.

INSTRUCTIONS

Detailed instructions on how to embroider, finish, and frame your work can be found on my website,
www.popcultcraft.com. The centre of the pattern is indicated by arrows on the top and the sides. It is a good idea to start your embroidery from the centre and from there work your way out. You can find the middle of your linen by folding it in half, pressing the centre, opening it up again, and folding it in half the other way.

You can choose to stitch the outer border, but it is not required for the pattern.

Have fun!
