Item details

Crochet Pattern for Sculptural Crochet Chalice designed by Elvira Jane.

Pattern Reference Number: EJ-SCC-UK-001

Written pattern (no diagram) using UK crochet terms.

You will need:
1 x 200 grams of James C. Brett Marble chunky yarn
4mm crochet hook

The measurements are:
approx. 12cm high, and approx. 10cm wide

UK crochet stitches: magic ring; slip stitch (ss); double crochet (dc) (including decrease (2dctog)).

The chalice is made in one piece, using a continuous length of yarn, so there are no seams to sew up, and just two ends to sew in.

You will need to work very tightly to achieve a firm free-standing result. I recommend that you use a full length metal crochet hook, with a comfortable hand-grip.

This pattern can still be used without the use of a very tight tension. The purple chalice (pictured) is made without any strain on the hand/arm, using aran yarn, and a 4mm hook. As you can see, it still produces the desired shape, and is strong enough to hold the essentials (mint imperials).

PLEASE NOTE: This listing is for the crochet pattern (pdf) for download, and NOT the finished item.

This pattern is also available in US crochet terms. Please see my listing entitled: US Crochet Pattern for Sculptural Crochet Chalice.
