Item details

This listing is for a PDF Crochet PATTERN only, not a finished necklace. English language and US crochet terms only.

This versatile pattern offers you endless opportunities to use color. The texture and depth can be emphasized by using beads which match the thread. Or use contrasting beads or even a design using a rainbow of color!

This pattern is a very detailed and comprehensive photo tutorial, 15 pages, 113 photos, 11.36MB. There is not a text-only version of this pattern.

You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange to view or print the files. Printed paper copies sent by USPS mail are not available.

DMC Cebelia crochet thread or other firm tightly wound thread
Appropriately sized hook
Round seed beads
White glue and fabric glue (or fray check)
Toggle clasp

Size 10 thread, size 11 seed beads & a 1.75mm hook (focal point will be approx 2.5) or
Size 20 thread, size 15 seed beads & a 1.50mm hook (focal point will be approx 2.25) or
Size 30 thread, size 15 seed beads & a 1.25mm hook (focal point will be approx 2.0)

A smaller hook or tapestry needle to loosen tight loops
Finer thread for the cord
A larger hook to make the cord go more quickly
Needle nose tweezers may be helpful to adjust the beads before blocking

Not essential, it’s best to work stitches somewhat tightly.

You need the following skills:
slip stitch
single crochet
double crochet
working back loop only
controlling tension
accuracy & attention to detail

Additional special stitches are used, instruction is given in-line in the pattern. Instruction for the foundation row is provided in a separate supplemental PDF (4 pages, 35 photos, 2.8MB)

This pattern is appropriate for an intermediate crocheter. More important than a specific experience level is patience and and being able to work with a somewhat tight and even tension.

Instructions for a 2 thread cord is included. It’s more polished than a regular crocheted chain but much easier than i-cord or Romanian point lace cord. There is also instruction for attaching a clasp.

Also included is a numbered diagram of the bead order and placement to make it easy to plan working with more than one color of beads.

This design took an unusually long time to get Goldilocks-just-right but now that I have it’s become my favorite necklace to make. It’s relatively quick and easier than it looks. I hope you will give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

If you would prefer to buy a finished necklace, this style is available in the Necklace & Pendant section of my shop:
