Hand dyed, pure fine merino yarn. The base yarn is Merino Velvet a fine micron (18-20) merino yarn that knits up to a soft, velvety, fabric. This is the softest merino I've every used - you'll never hear "it itches" from someone wearing this.
Fairy Bread is a mixture of red, orange, yellow, pink, blue and green dotted randomly but evenly over the natural base yarn. I place each colour deliberately rather than splashing or speckling the dye to keep the colours separate and clear. This yarn will not pool when knitted.
Fairy Bread is an Australian children's party treat made with buttered white bread and "hundreds and thousands" (nonpareils). I wanted to create a yarn that was recognisable as fairy bread while keeping the colours wearable for all ages.
Merino Velvet yarn should always be handwashed. A single skein is enough to make an adult sized hat or mittens - and depending on your pattern, three will make a scarf.

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZEE - 4.00mm needles
CARE - this is not a superwash yarn so it needs to be gently hand washed.
Although all my yarn is carefully rinsed after dyeing, some colour may appear in the washing water of your first few washes. Although this will not fade the colour of your yarn, it tints the water, and could colour other items in the same wash. This rarely happens but you should be aware of it.
Hand washing in luke warm water and an approved wool wash is vital for this yarn - it can not be machine washed!
Dry flat in the shade, away from direct heat.
BATCHES AND DYE LOTS - As a result of the hand-dyeing process, each skein will be slightly different even if they were dyed in the same batch. If you order more than one skein, all the skeins you receive will be from the same batch.
When knitting with multiple skeins, alternating skeins between rows will even out any variation.

Wherever possible I source my base yarn from Australian growers and spinners - this yarn will be described as 100% Australian grown and spun.
Some fibres are not commercially produced in Australia (like silk) so I source these from overseas.
All yarn is hand-dyed by me using water saving dyeing techniques. All waste water is neutralised and re-used or recycled.
