With my love of quilting in mind, I decided to use one of my favorite patterns and create an original design for my Punch Needle certification rug. Using 100% wool that I hand dyed, I began this graphic journey to create the ebb and flow of the ocean using my #9 punch needle. Each corner has a shell design using novelty yarn in various weights as well as single strands of rug wool yarn. I used a #10 punch needle behind each shell to let them look sculpted. The shells were done using #9 fine needle. In the center of the rug is a bright star which the very center being done with every size of the Craftsman needle. I also punched some of the triangles and diamonds of the rug with #6 wool fabric strips in various colors. My rug measures 40" X 28". This rug can be drawn for traditional rug hooking on linen or Monk's cloth on the front, or Punch needle rug hooking on Monk's cloth or linen, traced on the back.
