Being a wood worker, I see no reason for me to not have a wooden handle on my tools whenever possible. So I made one for my hobby knifes, and really love it. I thought others might like one also, so I am offering these for sale.
I have replaced the plastic handle on an Excel K-18 Grip-it knife with a handle turned from Teak, and finished it with wax. This type of finish is traditionally used on tools for the workshop, and can be renewed quite easily by applying another coat of wax. It can also be left to develop a natural patina with use.
It is slightly larger in diameter than the original plastic handle, so it is easier to hold for extended periods of time and when applying pressure to the cut.
If you would like one of these with another specie of wood, let me know and I will make one for you. I have a fairly large selection of blanks on hand and can get others quickly.
The knife comes with one #11 fine point blade and a blade guard. It will hold any of the blades that will fit the Xacto #1 handle and similar knives. More blades and different styles of blades are available where ever craft supplies are sold. A blade guard is included with this handle.
Please be careful when opening the package, the knife blade included with these is SHARP!
