This cheerful hat, a natural spin-off of Eowyn's Happy Hat pattern, combines several techniques, including stranded knitting, and is written for four sizes: toddler, child, and adult small and large. Great for using up small quantities of leftovers, it can incorporate a variety of yarns for added texture. Corkscrew hat toppers use a basic crochet technique, with other options also included for finishing the top, and the little Christmas trees may be embellished with beads.
Two versions of the pattern are included here for a single price: a basic version and an expanded one, with three extra pages of alternate designs. Being able to substitute alternate designs means the same “Christmas Happy Hat” pattern and yarn can be used to make hats for the whole family, but with each one unique and personalized. Technique instructions are included for beading, making bobbles, and crocheting the corkscrew hat toppers. The charts are clear and color-coded, so they are easy to follow, even for knitters not familiar with chart reading.

Notions: Sliding stitch markers; coilless pin or locking st marker; tapestry needle.
For adding beads, recommend size 6 beads (about 20 g total, depending on colors and designs used) and size 7-9 (1.25-1.0 mm) crochet hook or needle and thread.
