Sustainably harvested, every piece of our Pinion Pine Sap is hand picked from pristine High Desert Wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Harvested from the Pinus Edulis species of pine, it is extremely hearty and not only survives, but thrives in the harsh desert environment here.
Our pine sap is in its 100% natural state, and has not been heated, treated or refined in any way.
Pine sap also known as pine resin, rosin, pitch, etc., has a multitude of uses. It has antiseptic, anti inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, astringent (drawing), and expectorant properties. Also used for smudging, incense, as a glue to repair tents and tarps, and to waterproof boats, shoes, etc. Used for lighting (torches, etc.) , fire starting. Used as an ingredient in insect repellents. It is used in salves and ointments for excema, psoriasis, and other skin ailments.
The smaller, harder pieces are best if you are wanting to use it for incense or smudging, while all of it can be used for salves. If you have a particular preference based on what you are using it for, leave a note at checkout, and we will be happy to try and accommodate you!
Fun Fact: It was used historically as a gum for sore throats mixed with beeswax and honey.
