FAQs

QUESTION: If I purchase more than one item, can they be packaged together? ANSWER: Only items that are purchased together, in the same transaction, may be combined for shipping (i.e., those items that were loaded into the same shopping cart and paid for through the same check-out transaction). Items that are purchased individually, through two or more check-out transactions, cannot be combined for shipping.

QUESTION: Is this item safe to use with food? ANSWER: Because a vintage item is not new, and it usually has an unknown history, we can offer no guarantees about product safety in regards to food consumption. Common sense must prevail. If an item has interior stains or corrosion, interior cracks that might harbor bacteria, or is unglazed pottery, then it is best used for decor only. On the other hand, while minor exterior nicks, cracks or marks contribute to vintage charm, they probably are not significant to the safe use of the interior for food. Regardless, always thoroughly wash a new purchase before use in the kitchen.

QUESTION: Is this item safe for use by children? ANSWER: Because a vintage item is not new, and it often has an unknown history, we usually can offer little or no information about the materials used in the manufacture of the product. In regards to child safety, common sense must prevail. If an item is small, has small parts (like button eyes on a stuffed toy), or is painted, then it probably is not appropriate for very young children who may put such things into their mouths. If an item is delicate in construction, or made from an easily breakable material (like glass or pottery), then it is best used for décor rather than play. If an item has sharp edges or points, then it definitely is not a good selection for use by children.

QUESTIONS: Can this object be washed or dry cleaned? Can this object be put into a microwave or the dishwasher? ANSWER: Because a vintage item is not new, and it usually has an unknown history, we can offer no information or guarantees about what will happen if the object is washed, dry cleaned, put into a microwave or dishwasher. However, if the object retains an original label, and if that label specifies that the object can be washed, dry cleaned, or used in a microwave or dishwasher, then it probably is safe to do so.

QUESTION: Why is the cost of shipping to my address so high? ANSWER: Shipping fees are a combination of postage and packaging costs. Postal charges are mandated by the post office, based upon the size and weight of the package, the distance that the package must travel, and the speed with which delivery is desired. We ship from Florida, so customers living in the western United States will experience noticeably higher shipping charges than customers living in the east or central U. S. If a purchased item is comparatively large, heavy, fragile, or consists of multiple components, thereby requiring nonstandard types or amounts of packaging materials, the added cost of those materials also may contribute to a higher shipping fee.
