The Louet Mini Hand Cards are made of tulip wood, a Dutch poplar variety. These light weighted handcards have economical handles which fit comfortably in your hands. They are well-balanced and have curved paddles.
The 7 1/2" X 4" (19cm X 10 cm) carders are available in fine - 46 teeth per square inch, and extra fine - 110 teeth/sq. inch. The size of these cards is ideal for children, small handed adults and those with wrist troubles.
4" X 4" (10cm X 10cm) with extra fine cloth, 110 teeth /sq. inch. These extra fine cards are very suitable for cotton, exotic fibers and fine wools. The 4 X 4 do not come in the 46 TPI.
Carding and combing are pre-spinning treatments to align the fibers which enables you to spin fibers more easily. For the technique of felting or making woolen blankets, carding is essential. Combing straightens the fibers more than carding. This difference determines the character of the spun thread: worsted or woolen-spun.

Lovely carders. There was a mixup with my order, but the customer service was excellent. The issue was resolved the same day.

I needed cotton cards in order to make punis from dog hair and these are perfect. Louet always makes very efficient tools and these are no exception. They're also lightweight so they're less tiring for longer carding sessions. They were shipped the day I ordered them and I would absolutely buy from this seller again.

I was so resistant to buying handcarders. I had talked myself down, saying I'm only going to spin ready processed fiber... Here I am less than 2 months from buying my wheel and I bought these carders. I'm finding I use them all the time! These are great because they are small and easy to get a handle on. I'm going to need bigger ones eventually to make processing easier but I'm glad I started with the small ones.
