An exquisite Black Forest wooden needle case or holder, dating circa 1890. It is decoratively carved all the way around. One end can be easily removed so the needles can be inserted. The lid is the size of a thimble and closes snugly.
Ladies often carried sewing needles in cases like this one when travelling so that they could quickly mend their clothes if necessary when far from home. The case is in excellent condition and would be a beautiful addition to any sewing basket or as part of a collection.
