Item details

Prior to Artfelt®, there were various methods of felting, the most popular being wet felting, needle felting, and fulling. All three methods create a felted material of some sort, but all three also require a tremendous amount of either time or physical effort. Artfelt® combines the best attributes of all three methods with a new patented paper developed to ease and speed up the felting process using your dryer on no heat.

This special paper allows one to felt extremely simple to incredibly complex pieces with minimal space and little physical effort. It allows one to create a felted material that can be thick or thin, precise or abstract, and the whole process can be accomplished with very little experience and in a minimal amount of time. The paper holds your project in place during the felting process. You can find more information on youtube about this fun paper.

You are buying a sheet is 5 feet x 5 feet. Look for different sizes in other listings. The photo shows a scarf and a shawl that I made using this paper.

Simply cut out your paper to the size you want (making sure to allow for shrinkage) lay your fiber in your desired design, use a felting needle and poke once about every inch. Wet your item and cover in plastic wrap (or garbage bag for larger projects), roll up and secure in an old sock or panty hose. Put in the dryer on no heat and let tumble. You will need to check your item as it felts and reroll in other directions as necessary to control the shrinkage. Once done you pour boiling water on the item to dissolve the artfelt paper. (Please note these are general directions - look at the artfelt website and youtube for more specific directions).

Note: I do combine shipping on multiple items but they need to be paid for together – Please wait to pay until you are through shopping and when you check out it should reduce the shipping. International buyers are responsible for any customs fees their country might charge. I usually take close up photos. Please read the description to determine what you are buying and review my shop policies- I don't want you to be disappointed in your purchase.
