Soy wax flakes made from 100% soy bean oil. Pure, no additives, natural and kosher. This soy candle wax is very easy to work with due to low melt point which provides a good burn and makes it ideal for massage candles. We tested this wax for a few months in our products to make sure it worked well to provide recommended tips. Performs great in large and small mason jars, glass votive cups and tins. Great glass adhesion without warming the container and very few wet spots. It has an excellent scent throw cold and hot. Made in the US by Golden Brands; mfg # GW 464 is the newest in their line replacing retired LP 402. This wax blends well with beeswax, paraffin, slack wax, other soy waxes and microcrystalline waxes.
Meltpoint: 115-125 degrees
Primary Use: Container candles
Scent Recommendation: Use up to 1-1.5 oz. fragrance oil per pound
Wick Suggestion: Heinz Coreless, Paper core or HTP
Recommended Pouring Temperature: Cool and slushy; average 135 degrees, approx. 145 degrees for small and medium containers or 125 degrees for large containers.
Basic Instructions for Use: Heat wax to 180 degrees. Add color and blend well. Wait until the wax has cooled close to the desired pour temperature, add fragrance oil, blend and check temperature again. Size and shape of your container determines the BEST pour temperature. Cooling too quickly or slowly can cause concaving and/or cracking. Large jars such as the apothecary configurations cool slower and require lower pour temperatures. Tall thin jars such as an 8 ounce jelly jars cool faster requiring a higher pour temperature. If you experience difficulties with your pour temperature try a lower or higher temperature. If you experience top cracks, correct with a heat gun on the outer edges of the container or top off with a 2nd pour.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: What wicks do you use with this wax?
A: We love Heinz Coreless CD natural cotton wicks; Paper Core or HTP are also recommended by the manufacturer. Size needed is determined by the size of the container you are using. Wicks available via this listing. https://www.etsystudio.com/listing/164927849/candle-wicks-50-qty-candle-supplies-pre
Q: What do you use to add color?
A: Liquid is MUCH EASIER to produce consistent color in your wax recipes by controlling amount of drops added per pound. Wax chips need to be cut and weighed, not easy to do unless you have a scale that measures in grams for small batches or pastel colors. We make lots of candles and much happier with liquid dye. Powdered dye is combustible, NOT recommended for candles you intend to burn; however can be used if candles are for decorative purposes only. Liquid dye is available via this link. https://www.etsystudio.com/listing/483198713/candle-dye-liquid-candle-color-sample
Q: Can I use this for pillar candles?
A: Only if you add a stiffener such as stearic acid. This soy wax is intended for container candles; the soft wax makes excellent massage candles. Experienced candle makers may want to try for pillars; but you will need to test ratio of ingredients.
Q: Are there special fragrance oils needed for candles?
A: We prefer fragrance oil over essential oil. Essential oils are much lighter in aroma, costs more per ounce and you need to add more for a good scent throw. Any undiluted 100% fragrance oil will do. Since we make both home fragrance and cosmetics, we prefer to use fragrances that are safe for both uses. Q: Do you ship outside the US?
A: Normally yes, but not for this item. International shipping rates for Canada $48, Mexico $58, all other locations $73. Yikes! We can add your country to the shipping profile by request, but don't expect any.
