This stone I cut from the rough Shattuckite that originated in the Congo.
Each stone cut from this rough is different and occasionally I get an exceptional stone like this.
Shattuckite is a combination of 4 different materials that are in the same group of Copper based minerals. It combines Chrysocolla, Azurite, Malachite and Turquoise in different proportions. This particular stone has them all including an interesting intrusion of pyrite. This combination of materials is rather rare in this material. The dimensions are - 3.3 cm X 2.8 cm X 7.5 mm. The weight is 58.25 c. The back is only semi-polished and a small portion is filled with steel epoxy to even out the bottom and strengthen the stone. It has a small bevel on the back to facilitate its setting without cracking the stone.
This one is from my personal collection which I am slowly disposing off.
