Item details

80/20 merino/silk
approximately 105 yards/ 3.9 ounces
bulky weight, 8 wpi
cable-ply handspun (6-ply)
Fiber from: Into the Whirled

This yarn is made by splitting a braid of fiber in half and spinning, then chain-plying (n-plying) each of half separately, then subsequently plying those two yarns again together in the opposite direction making for a total of a 6-ply yarn. Even when spinning thinner, this makes for quite a bulky yarn with fun characteristics and good stitch definition. Because of the technique, it does take quite a bit of time to create and is therefore a more expensive yarn per yard.

This yarn would be lovely made up into a necklace or bracelets (perhaps braided) or used as the cuffs of mittens or the borders in another project. It is next to skin soft. This yarn is not superwash. Hand wash gently in cold water and lay flat to dry unless you wish it to felt.

I try to photograph the colors accurately, but they may appear differently on your screen. This item comes from a smoke-free, cat and dog friendly home, but I try to keep the fiber away from the pets. If you are highly allergic, I recommend buying elsewhere. My schedule varies from week to week, so shipping days vary greatly, but I will always ship out as early as possible. Please check my shop policies for additional information.

I am not an expert on shipping costs, but I want to make it as fair and reasonable as possible. If shipping charges are ever greater than $1 USD more than the actual cost of shipping, I will refund the difference. I ship USPS First Class unless you request otherwise or your package is too large and must be sent Priority. Send me a convo, and I can discuss alternative methods. As a full time student with a schedule that changes from week to week, I CANNOT GUARANTEE ANY SHIPPING DAYS. I cannot predict when I will be able to make it to the post office, though I will go at the earliest time my schedule (and the weather here in the Midwest!) permits. Please note it is possible for it to take a week or more for your item(s) to ship. If you are in a hurry to receive something, please contact me prior to purchasing to make sure I can ship immediately.

If you are ordering internationally, please make note of the increased cost of shipping.

I prefer PayPal, but I know it can be time consuming to set up an account. If you absolutely must pay with a check, select that option during check out, and I will send your order as soon as I have received it and it has cleared with my bank. Cancellations are only accepted due to a failure on my part to provide timely service.

Returns & exchanges

I will accept returns as long as the items have not been used or damaged (on your part) in any way and return shipping costs must be covered by you. Please do not return an item simply if you change your mind. Return items should be for improper representation of the item in my shop or for damage. If an item has been damaged during shipment, please notify me immediately, and provide photo documentation if possible. I will do my best to rectify the situation, providing a replacement or refund where appropriate.

Additional policies

Everything I sell has come through my house which is cat, dog, and hamster friendly. I also work at a vet clinic so bring pet hair home with me all the time. Please do not purchase anything from my store if you are extremely allergic as I can not guarantee 0% pet contact, though I try my best. If you see something you like in my shop, but don't wish to buy it immediately, I will place it on hold for you for a maximum of 7 days. If the order is not placed, I will reopen it to everyone.
