Phormium are evergreen perennials, making a large clump of leathery, strap-shaped leaves. This type of Phormium has bronze/green leaves with a pinkish red edge, the underside of the leaves are finely striped with many colours. It doesn't seem to flower as readily as other Phormiums, but when they do appear they are tall panicles of small, tubular red flowers with yellow stamens (in Summer). These attract many bees! The flower stems can be removed in the Autumn/Winter to make a large dried flower display.
