Betty, Velvet & Stunning Roving - 100% Llama - 2 1/8 oz bumps - creamy white
Lovely llama roving ready for you to spin on your spinning wheel or drop spindle and make luxurious yarn. The glorious 100 percent (100%) llama fiber is from the 2015 fleeces of three of our llamas, Betty, Velvet and Simply Stunning. They are smart llamas who are great on the obstacle course or on the trail with a pack, and also grow gorgeous fleece for you! Yarn spun from this roving would make nice hats, mittens or scarves! So, so soft! It is very similar to work with as alpaca yarn.
This is approximately 4.25 oz (2 bumps of roving that are each approximately 2.125 oz) of roving. It is creamy white. The fiber was washed and processed into roving at Mystic Water Fiber Mill. Please note that the photo and/or your computer or mobile device screen might be distorting the color slightly. It is stored in a container in a pet-friendly (1 kitty and 1 dog) home that is smoke-free.
If you like to do wet felting projects, the fiber would also work well for that. It is also a good candidate for hand dye projects.
Betty, Velvet and Simply Stunning, and our other llamas, are sheared in the late spring so that we can make their fiber available to you for your projects. After being shipped to the mill, it takes anywhere from 3 to 8 months to get back as roving, batts or yarn.
The shearing is pain-free to the llama (but my arm gets tired!) and most of them actually enjoy the attention. We keep the llamas groomed throughout the year and when we are shearing, we keep the fiber from hitting the ground, so it is relatively free of VM (vegetable matter). You will, however, find a few tiny pieces of hay here and there.
I also have roving from other llamas available, as well as fiber samplers and yarn! Please check our other listings. Thank you for considering a purchase from Heartsong Llamas and Fiber of Dawn of Promise Farm. Your purchase helps us with the expenses of caring for and feeding the llamas. We appreciate the business!
On most occasions, I can ship within a day or two of receipt of payment, but my job and travel schedule does not always allow for that. Please note that it may be up to 5 business days before I can get your package to the post office.
