Item details

Calcium carbonate is a mineral compound found in most rocks and can be found in all parts of the world. It is found in the makeup of shells belonging to marine animals, snail, coral and pearls. Widely diverse, calcium carbonate powder has too many uses to truly be covered here. It is used in more ways than probably any other rock. CaCO3 is the common elemental compound for Limestone.

Features & Benefits:

ODOR REDUCTION
Aids in odor reduction, creating more favorable working conditions for producers and their animals.

MOISTURE ABSORPTION
Absorbs moisture in the soil. This absorption dries up and neutralizes acids. It is effective in barns, feedlots, and poultry and farrowing houses.

MANURE ENRICHMENT
The high calcium content enriches the value of livestock manure. When this enriched manure is applied to crop fields, it helps to reduce soil acidity.

NO IRRITATION
Neither workers nor livestock will be irritated or harmed.

ALL-NATURAL
All-natural and OMRI listed
Often, people feed calcium carbonate powder to their chickens and cows. In chickens, it helps strengthen the eggshells and is fed to cows to replace calcium lost during the milking process.

Calcium carbonate also works to reduce the acidity in soil and water. It can be spread over the ground before planting and as an alkali, it works to bring acidity in the soil down to create more favorable conditions for growing your plants.

Our calcium carbonate powder has a 98% purity level and is in the form of a very fine, white powder. It can even be added to water and sprayed on plants at a low rate.

DRY APPLICATION:
For use in stalls or hutches designated for cattle and calves. For best results, clean area and apply limestone powder to the ground before adding new bedding. May also be applied to existing bedding. Apply 1 lb per 9 square feet. Use heavier on wet or urinated areas.

WET MIXING RATE AND APPLICATION:
Mix 50 lbs of limestone powder in 5-7 gallons of water. The mixture should have a paint-like consistency. The mixing rate may change slightly depending on the type of applicator used. For example, when using a backpack sprayer, the mixing rate should be 50 lbs to 10 gallons of water. The thicker the mixture is, the better the coverage will be. If the coverage is too thin, another coat may been need to be applied.

When applying limestone powder to plastic, good coverage is necessary, but a very thick coat may cause the product to flake off. When applying to wood or cement, it is okay to apply a thick, heavy coat. The coating will extend the life of the wooden hutch. A wooden calf pen with the following dimensions, 2.5 ft wide x 3 ft high x 8 ft long, will require approximately 5-7 lbs of limestone powder. A residue will remain from a previous application so there is no need to power wash the stall before a second application. Therefore, the limestone powder usage will drop to 3-4 lbs for the second application.
