Our interpretation of a traditional Scottish Dealgan, or Fearsaid (Drop Spindle).
A dealgan (farsadh) is a drop spindle for hand spinning yarn that was traditionally used in the Western Isles of Scotland (and some parts of Canada). Dealgan and farsadh loosely mean "spindle" in Gaelic.
The yarn is wound around the shaft to form the cop like on a nostepinne, giving the added benefit of ending up with a centre pull ball.
A work of art and great to spin with! As a added bonus, it came pillowed in carded Lleyn fibre. Thank you!

Beautiful, silky smooth, well-balanced spindle. Seller advised that there might be weather delays, but it arrived swiftly in spite of anything else.
Niddy Noddy makes Great spindles - I cannot recommend him highly enough. Price is good, quality excellent.
Thank you again for such a wonderful 'toy'!
