This block was inspired by several of the house and tree patterns on the market currently. I have added new details and introduced foundation paper-piecing to the block.
The block looks really complicated, but it is actually super easy to do. It will finish out at 13 1/2" and is currently being used in a row-by-row quilt, however, you could make all your blocks using this pattern and just change the window, roof, and/or chimney treatment. Please let me know of any questions you have regarding this pattern.
The windows are done using reverse applique and can be filled with curtains and an interior piece.
The house is done first, then the tree is done, then the additional right hand piece is put together. Next the house and the tree are joined and the grass is added across the bottom. Once the right hand piece is completed, it is added and the block is complete.
You will want to download both files. One file gives you the pattern that you will print off onto 8 1/2" X 14" 20 lb paper, and tape together carefully. Be sure to place the tape between the seam lines, so you will not be sewing through the tape. The other file includes the measurements of each piece of fabric you will need.
