An ornate original 1925 Prohibition Prescription for Whiskey...Oi (pint bottle)! This prescription was used for a short period of time during the Prohibition, between late 1924 and 1925. The doc had beautiful, bold penmanship! A personal favorite! Please see photos!
From the days of Al Capone, speakeasies and moonshine this was the only legal way to drink liquor in the US!
The whiskey was prescribed for Katie Viglione, by Dr. Sam? B. Gray, on October 16, 1925, and was filled on October 17, 1925, by the Broadway Drug Company, in Scottsdale, PA
It was issued by the Treasury Department and is printed on fancy, beautiful paper, that was also used for U.S. currency. In the center is the old Treasury Seal with the Latin inscription, "Thesaur. Amer. Septent. Sigil.". When you hold this prescription up to the light When you hold this prescription up to the light PROHIBITION is watermarked, as with the metal strips that are used in U.S. bills today, the graphics are GREAT!
This prescription measures 6 1/2" x 4 3/8", has two folds, light bends an light edge wear, otherwise, condition is excellent...a remarkable 1925 whiskey prescription!
This is a FANTASTIC piece of history and would be great to display in a pharmacy, wine cellar, distillery, museum, bar or office! Also a great gift or an addition to a collection of pharmacy, medicine, US currency, Alcoholics Anonymous, Capone, 1920s, bar, Americana, stamps and DEA items!
All items ship within 24 hours and I will contact you when I receive notification of any purchase, thank you! :)
Pleased to combine shipping with other Prohibition Prescriptions, Liquor Licenses, Opium Forms & Pharmacy Labels. As always, many thanks to my regular customers for your continued patronage! :)
Excellent quality and service! Very happy with this purchase - a perfect Christmas gift!
