Add a quality compost at a fairly heavy rate (sunflowers are heavy feeders). Place seeds every 6" (1" deep) and thin to 24". Fertilize every week with an all-purpose fertilizer (not really necessary if you compost well). Make sure the plants receive 2+ gallons of water per week when they reach 3' in height.
