Item details

This listing is for a complete rug hooking kit designed by Sharon Perry. It includes everything you need to complete this 11 X 18 inch Primitive Hooked Rug. It's a pretty simple design with a great mix of beautiful wools, mostly hand dyed and cut on a #8 (1/4") blade. The fish are done in a variety of colors to give them that pop of color where needed. Chances are you won't ever see fish like this but that's the glory of folk art.

For the background I used dyed green and dyed aqua blue. For a finishing touch I added three rows of hit and miss border to keep in line with the tropical folk art look of the piece. Hooked up this would make a great wall hanging, chair pad, bench warmer, table centerpiece or pillow top. These hooked rugs look great hanging from pieces of country furniture or covering the tops of old trunks as well. Here's what you receive when you purchase this kit.

Care has been taken in the packaging of this kit. It comes in a zip lock bag that's most convenient for taking it out and putting it away at your leisure. If this is your first project I would suggest a quilting hoop frame which can be purchased at any fabric store. There are more user friendly and costly frames available, but I did my first dozen or so rugs on a quilting hoop and then graduated to the more expensive frame. I haven't included a hook with this kit because I find that most people interested in this hobby already have one, but if you don't and are in need of one, you can opt to add the Moshimer Hook that I usually sell for $12.25 to this kit for just 9.00. This is the same brand of hook that I have been using for over 20 years.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss rug hooking in general, please email me and thanks for your interest in my work. To get an idea how easy this is to do just google "primitive rug hooking". There are several video demonstrations on U Tube.
