Handspun yarn, handpainted yarn, art yarn BFL wool, thick and thin mohair locks-HAINT
This time it's an art yarn! Haint roving (See description below) spun with uncarded kid Mohair locks dyed in gorgeous shades of sulphur, and bright gold. I may have one more skein in stock, please inquire. 100 yard skein plus smaller (50 yard skein), together weigh approx 4.1 oz, spun as heavy worsted.
I occasionally head back to the Smokey Mountains in a few weeks to visit kin...and this melancholy colorway was inspired there and needed a southern name. Haint, for haunts, ghosts, spirits, and apparitions. Beautiful shades of black pearl, smoke rings, sulfur yellow, lime, ebony, charcoal, silver. One of my most popular colorways.
100 yard skeins, worsted weight thick and thin, 100% Bluefaced Leicester wool has a very nice sheen and is next to the skin soft.
Each skein of yarn is a labor of love. Roving is hand painted with low acid dyes, steamed, and cooled for 24 hours to ensure colorfast yarn and less environmental impact as no dye is being washed down the drain. The roving is drafted and spun on my dreamy Schacht Matchless wheel, wound onto the niddy noddy and fashioned into a skein. Next, I soak the skein of yarn in a spring water rinse. At this point the wet skein is blocked and finally stored, awaiting a new home.

Shipping & policies
Shipping costs have skyrocketed! I am so sorry for my international customers, but I have to raise my shipping rates. We've had a few rate increases in the previous years but the most recent one was a humdinger. I've been charging $3.50 for the first skein and just absorbing the extra charge of about 75 cents plus shipping materials, but I can no longer do it. Shipping one skein to Australia has jumped from $4.25 to nearly $6.50 for one skein! I have changed my shipping rates to reflect this but I advise all international customers to do two things in order to cut costs:
1. Buy in bulk -when pricing three skeins, it appears that the cost plummets to about 3.70 per skein for shipping instead of $6.50.
2. Convo me with your order before purchasing. I am more than happy to set up a reserved order for you, assemble the package, and have it weighed at the post office so that I may offer the exact (and hopefully less expensive) shipping cost.
I am happy to take custom orders and holds/reservations. Custom orders will require a deposit of 25%, and balance must be received within two weeks of listing date unless otherwise agreed upon. Reserved listings/holds will require full payment within two weeks unless otherwise terms are agreed upon.
I need to charge sales tax on WA orders.
No coupon codes may be honored on bulk listings, Buy 6 Get 1 promotion, or club/membership listings.
Returns & exchanges
- Custom or personalized orders
- Perishable products (like food or flowers)
- Digital downloads
- Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
I do not offer refunds in other situations. If you receive the yarn and it doesn't suit for some reason, we can discuss an exchange option but the buyer is responsible for shipping costs.
If there is any problem at all, please contact me within a week of receiving the yarn. I cannot offer exchanges past this point, and the yarn must be returned in the same condition in which it was received.
I offer a Buy 6 Get 1 Free promotion! I usually choose the free skein but am more than happy to take requests. The free one must be of equal or lesser value, but feel free to find the average cost per skein. For example, an order which looks like:
Would total $170, or $28.33 average cost per skein. The free one should be equal to or lesser than $28.33, not the least expensive skein in your shopping cart.
