A total of 514 yards of 40% Wool, 35% Nylon, 25% Viscose Reclaimed Yarn are available. Make your skein choice by clicking on the "Skeins Desired" drop down on the right of the page.
Wool and Viscose makes the yard feel softer than pure wool, the Nylon fibers make it stronger.
4 2-ply strands of lace weight yarn have been plied together on my spinning wheel to make a nice Worsted Weight hand knitting yarn. It is a very soft yarn suitable for close to skin projects.
One of the challenges with reclaiming yarn from a commercial sweater is that the strands of yarn are very thin in diameter and there are many sections of the sweater resulting in small skeins. The thin diameter makes it almost impossible to hand knit without holding multiple strands together. I have hand plied this yarn to give it additional bulk and strength while still maintaining its luxurious feel. I have used a splicing method to join individual strands while plying.
I absolutely love working with natural fibers, but can't always afford those high-priced yarns at the specialty stores. Buying reclaimed yarn is an Eco-Friendly and economical way to satisfy your creative side! Since the yarn is reclaimed from sweater, some knots are unavoidable. If there is a knot in the skein, it will be listed above. Please excuse me if I miss one from time-to-time.
I always recommend hand washing and flat drying for all your handmade treasures. All items come from a smoke-free, pet friendly home.
