Colchester was the first of our towns and cities ranges not to mention the first of them all. The tapestry is based on the work of John Speed the great Stuart cartographer from Cheshire. The original was from approximately 1610. I have taken some liberties in the colouring of the buildings as I’m sure Mr. Speed did himself. This tapestry is a really good fun sew and I’ve used one to navigate the streets of Colchester quite recently, I did get lost a few times but put that down to progress! All in all one of my favorites, my first design.
