This is a PATTERN for a pair of adult sized knit mittens. It is an instant download.
These mittens knit up very quickly with 70 yards of my bulky handspun yarn on size 11 double pointed needles... it takes me about 2-3 hours to knit a pair. The pattern is quite easy involving simple stitches - knit, purl, knit two together and knit in front/back of the same stitch. And it's true - there are only 38 rows in the body of the mitten! (and 8 teensy rows for the thumb)!
The mittens fit most adults and are roomy enough to put a handwarmer in the tip for especially frigid winter days. The pattern tells where to add or reduce rows to make body of mitten or thumb longer or shorter to adjust for individual preferences.
The pattern was created for my super soft and lofty, bulky yarns which are available here in the 'Bulky Thick and Thin" section of my shop
as well as here in the 'Art Yarns' section
These yarns are spun 'thick and thin' (meaning they are not consistent/even... some spots thicker and some spots thinner) which gives these mittens a one of a kind, artisan texture.
These yarns are wool (with ad-ins such as bamboo, sari silks firestar, angora and mohair in the art yarns) so please be sure to follow the care instructions to prevent major felting damage. I suggest the mittens be spot washed very gently with cold water and, if necessary, a wool safe wash such as Woolite or Eucalan... or, to freshen, pop in the dryer on the low heat setting with a couple dryer sheets for ten or fifteen minutes.

Returns & exchanges
I want happy customers! Please convo me before you purchase if you have any questions. Note the yardage and weight/WPI of your yarn to be sure it is enough/appropriate for the project you have in mind. I do my best to take accurate photos so you are not unpleasantly surprised when you open your package, but monitors vary and I am not a photographer. :) Again, send me a convo or an email if you have any questions! If you receive an item that is not what you had hoped, please let me know right away. If you then return it immediately and in original condition, I will refund you minus the shipping cost.
I would love to fill your custom request! Don't hesitate to ask! Many of my yarns are one-of-a-kind, but occasionally I can reproduce a yarn. I am also happy to dye/card/spin according to your needs to create just the right type and amount of yarn for your special project.
I'm often asked to 'reserve' a skein for a customer until they are able to purchase and pay for their yarn. I am happy to reserve yarn for regular customers in good standing once it has been listed in my shop for 24 hours. I ask only that you please let me know, via convo, at the time of the reserve request, when you will be returning to make your purchase. If you haven't purchased by that date I will send you a friendly reminder. If the item is still unpurchased I will remove the 'reserve' from the listing heading, but, OF COURSE, you are still welcome to come buy 'your' item as long as it remains available! Once an item is reserved I do budget accordingly, so am depending on the reserved item to sell on its reserve date... I appreciate your assistance in this! :)
And I always love to see what you are making with "my" yarns -- please email or convo me and send along a photo!!
I am happy to wind your skeins into center pull balls before shipping. Just let me know with a message at check out.
I include a free lavender sachet with each yarn order (let me know at check out if you'd rather not receive one).
