I like this design and the colors so much, I use this image on my etsy opening page for all to see. Now it is available for you to recreate. Full directions are enclosed along with 15 needles, and all the yarn required to complete this 31.5" x 47" (120 cm x 80 cm) hardy rya rug for the floor or hanging on the wall. Either way, you will be creating a work of art. The art and design for rya was done by me, so it is my original art work which I share with you.
I call it WaterSwirl. I offer it in two color combinations. First, as shown in the photographs, the original with hot pink in the swirl and bubbles and electric light green in the swirls. That is option #1. Option #2 was revised for someone who wanted a more subdued rya with Salmon instead of hot pink, and a more muted green instead of electric. Look at photo #2 and 3 to see the difference. Use the "zoom" feature to really look closely. Note that the top threading card is the Salmon one and the bottom threading card is the hot pink original one.
Kit includes everything you need:
Needles Hemmed woven backing which needs no binding upon completion. When you are done knotting, it is complete! Yarn required plus extra for wiggle room Instructions Detailed Price list for other backings, yarn, and rya supplies
I have prepared instructions to go with this kit and I will even start the first row for you so you just pick up the needle and continue. Please take a look at the video I made in 2012 (before I got into the business of getting rya going again as a fine craft of Nordic countries.)
To see the video, go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trl3V5Q2kG4
The yarn is all the best names in rya from 4 different countries: Rauma from Norway, Lundgren from USA, Asborya from Sweden.
Take a look at other rya supply listings I have here on etsy to get an idea of where you might go on your next project.
The backing was woven in the Norway on linen warp with a heavy wool weft.
Since I released the video, it has been seen by nearly a 1/2 million viewers. I have committed my life now to bringing back off-loom rya rug making. I have hundreds of designs and will slowly be releasing kits here as I get them ready. Plus I am writing a book all about off-loom rya designing and making. A kit is a good place to start.
Another place to learn more is on my recent blog postings where I document the actual making of this rug! http://byrdcallstudio.com/blog-2/ Or go the byrdcallstudio.com and click on The Byrdcall Blog. Fun photos and more ryas.
Feel free to ask questions. Many thanks for looking. And, YES, I will ship to any country, but I do not listing the postage prices because it can vary so much. Just convo me and tell me what country you are from and what you want. I'll tell you how much the shipping will be, then will do a special listing for you. Thanks.
Thanks for reading all the way to the end here. Any questions?
