The backside of the cabochon is (almost) flat and capped with mother of pearl and resin, see last picture. All pictures taken indoor using natural sunlight without any editing.
These are genuine mabe pearls from Pteria Penguin / black winged pearl oyster shell.

***High grade, characteristics: perfect shape, almost-perfectly-smooth surface and clean with almost no blemish, great luster, usually matched with gold/platinum
***Standard grade 1, characteristics: not-perfectly-smooth surface with a bit of yellowish blemish on below sides only, good luster, might have small/seamless spots, usually matched with silver/beads
***Standard grade 2, characteristics: not-so-smooth (organic) surface with a bit of yellowish blemish on the sides to front side, normal luster, might have some spots, usually matched with copper/non precious metal
"Cultured mabes are grown intentionally, by using a hemispheric nucleus, rather than a round one; and by implanting it against the oyster's shell, rather than within its tissue. The pearl then develops in a hemispheric form, with a flat back. After the blister pearl has developed, it is 'worked' to become a mabe pearl. Blister pearls are ‘worked’ by cutting the pearl out of the shell with a circle-bit drill. The nucleus is then removed and replaced with a resin. Returns & exchanges
We strive our best to provide you sufficient and detail information on all items for sale here so that you can expect that what you see on the pictures provided and description stated in the listing will be as close as possible with the items you receive.
However, if for any reason you are not satisfied, please inform via convo or email BEFORE giving us any feedback no more than 3 days upon receiving the item. We shall resolve this issue together, otherwise feel free to return the item maximum within 30 days using reliable shipping service. We will refund the purchase amount minus shipping cost right AFTER we receive back the items at their original and unused condition. Shipping cost is not refundable.
