This is a sweet tourmaline cluster featuring druzy quartz with a single standout quartz crystal 'sidecar' on a base of white feldspar. The aesthetics on this piece are great, it is a fine thumbnail specimen.
The color of the tourmaline ranges from colorless to hot pink to tea, with pink being the predominant color. The crystals are all fully-formed and terminated, with shallow, pointed terminations. Most of the terminations are the basic trigonal type, but a few are complex with several shelfs cascading down the side.
The quartz here is sparkly and druzy on the top, but the base has an interesting squished habit where that large crystal was blocked from growing further out, and it went wide instead.
This piece was found in the mountains of Burmese Asia. It is a rare and unique variety of tourmaline, and is distinguishable from tourmaline found in any other location.
