The rain is pouring down again and winter is drawing near. Yesterday I picked up my sock knitting for the first time in months and months.
I wanted to make rolags suitable for making sock yarn, so these are slightly less soft than usual. I've added some coarser wool to my usual medium to fine wools. I added mohair for added strength and alpaca for extra warmth.
The coloured wool is all hand dyed and so the shades will vary from rolag to rolag. Some are brighter pink, some more salmon and others have soft grey purple in them.
Please observe - Although I call it sock wool it is NOT superwash treated. Good new for those of you who want to knit oversized slippers and full the in the machine, bad news for those of you who likes to toss your hiking socks in the machine after an outdoor weekend.
This wool can of course be used for other thing than slippers and socks, I would also use it for mittens and if you're not very sensitive you could make a hat out of it too. I wouldn't use it for scarfs or shawls but it would be splendid for bags, placemats or any other household item that needs some tougher wool.
This listing is for 12 rolags (easily dividable for a three ply sock yarn)
With a weight of 125-140g, well over 4 oz
Hand wash only - will felt
