Item details

I have some straight carrot holders for you. The colorful ones are made of birch which has been dyed and laminated to form the striped patterns. (No paint to crack or peel.) The one you receive might have a slightly different finial but it will be close to the ones I have pictured. They are all finished with clear lacquer.

The dimensions are 5" in length, 0.42-0.5" at the finger grip, and 0.64-0.72" at the widest part of the grip. I think you will find that the thicker grip of a carrot is more comfortable to write with for longer periods of time than a narrower pen. The shape allows you to hug the pen with the curve of your index finger rather than just the tip, allowing for a more relaxed grip with less finger movement. It also encourages a palm-down position with high pen-to-paper angle for the finest hairlines. I've developed this shape in my years of teaching beginners how to get thin delicate strokes.

These holders are fitted with metal nib grip inserts that hold most popular nibs. They come ready to write with a Leonardt Hiro 41 nib included.

Carrots are my favorite to write with and I hope you will find them charming too. See my other listing for oblique carrots with a flange. Thanks for looking!

FAQs

I am not currently taking any custom orders. Feel free to make suggestions of what you would like to see in my shop but if you have design or time restrictions, I'm not able to take them right now.

Never leave a wood pen to soak in water. Wipe it off with a damp cloth and dry it well. Also avoid using cleaning products with ammonia which can damage the finish of the pen. When you dip the pen in ink, only allow the nib to submerse in the ink and not the entire flange. If ink dries inside the flange, it can be hard to remove the nib. Keep your custom pen out of direct sunlight and treat it with care.
