Item details

A popular African print design featuring a humming bird or swallow. Great for clothing, accessories and any craft projects you have on the drawing board! Would also make a great headscarf.

A great Ankara fabric that is soft in texture and would work well in almost any sewing project. This version is a light brownish orange with a purple bird motif. Please note: Colours may appear differently depending on your monitor/device.

To give you and idea of scale, each oval is about 4.5 inches wide. There is also a tape measure shown in the last image which shows dimensions in inches.

This fabric is sold by the Yard and this listing is for one yard of fabric. A Yard is 91 cm. To buy more than one yard, please use the drop-down menu and a continuous length of fabric will be sent to you.

THE MEANINGS BEHIND THE SYMBOL
Hirondelle: This is the french word for the Swallow bird. Swallows are a symbol of good luck.

In Togo the pattern is called ‘Air Afrique’ because the fabric was also used in the uniform of the local airline company.

Sika Wo Antaban means 'Money has Wings'. In Ghana the pattern refers to the transience of riches: rich today, poor tomorrow, for money, if one is not careful, will fly away like a bird. This fabric encourages people to make good financial investments.
