Penguin crayon-tinted embroidery pattern digital download includes pattern, materials list, and instructions to create this cute design! Frame the completed needlework, or use to embellish dish towels, tote bags, pillows, quilts, etc.
Hand tinted embroidered linens were very popular back in the 30’s and 40’s, and it’s an easy and fun way to create your own heirloom items. Crayon tinting uses actual crayons, it's coloring on fabric instead of on paper! This penguin is quick and easy to complete, and is great for beginners.
The penguin has some friends: a snowman and Santa, and those patterns are also in my shop! See my "About" page, (click to learn more about my process at the bottom of this listing) to see the hand decorated cookies I made a couple years ago that inspired me to make embroidery patterns from those designs! In the photos, above, I also show how this penguin looks great in different decors, with the two different ways I framed the finished piece.
This listing is for an instant download pattern, including a materials list, and instructions (4 pages total) on how to create the penguin embroidery shown in the photos, above. No actual product will be physically sent to you, so none of the floss or other materials pictured will be sent.
This pattern packet is available for instant download. As soon as your payment is complete, the pattern may be downloaded and you are ready to print it and transfer it to your project. You can make the design any size you want, and also feel free to change the colors you use, etc. I made mine 6" X 8" as the design area, and framed it in an 8" X 10" frame. Complete instructions for downloading your file may be found here: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/3949
Pattern transfer methods are easy to find on Youtube and the Web, as are the basic embroidery stitches. In this pattern, you use only back stitch and French knots.

This pattern is adorable! I love how original and unique it is, and I can't wait to try crayon tinting, and stitch it up as a Christmas gift! The instructions are easy to understand, and are very complete. The file printed easily on my computer. I'll definitely be looking for the next patterns she posts to go along with this one.
