.It's not easy to get a gas-fired look out of an electric firing, but this combo does it.
Volcanic glass -- black basaltic stoneware with a self-glazed metallic sheen, surrounded by delicious greens.
The handwork is my hallmark. These button holes are beveled and smoothed, front and back, so that they won't cut your fiber and fall off of your garment (yes, that happens with unfinished holes: fired ceramic edges are sharp as a knife). In addition, the ceramic "tooth" has been polished off -- the exposed clay is smooth to the touch and won't pill fiber. Ceramic tooth is like sandpaper.
All of the buttons here are hand finished...made to complement and protect the hours you've put into your handwork creations.
Handmade black stoneware.
Clean smooth and signed on the reverse.
Completed in one firing, significantly reducing the fuel normally used to make ceramic items.
All of my buttons are individually handmade. There are subtle variations in shape, color and design, befitting handmade work.
Beveled holes and polished backs: edges that won't cut your fibers, surfaces that won't pill.

I occasionally, and reluctantly, do custom work. My schedule & the need to complete an entire kiln-load of work before I can fire your order, leave me happy to do what I do best: original, nearly one-of-kind items on my own schedule (I know my limits!). If you must have it, can wait patiently and enjoy persuading reluctant artists, have a try ;)
