This is the pattern I created to use with any of my layer cakes. This was made using one- 25 square layer cake and 2 yards of white or nuetral plus additional yardage for binding and backing. Finished size is approx 45 x 60.
One layer cake provides enough fabric to do extra appliques and the name. Many of my layer cakes come with 3 appliques. You can use those as templates to make as many as you would like to use. Sample quilt was made using 6 appliques. I will also include a file for the letters already sized and mirrored for applique use. Choose any layer cake with 5 different colored prints. Many of my layer cakes have a white fabric included, which is ok, but you will need to find 5 extra colored squares to use for the blocks. These can all be the same or scraps that coordinate well with the rest. This is the perfect quilt to burn up those extra scraps.
Supplies you need: • Sewing machine • 1 layer cake • 2 yards white cotton fabric • Thread • extra yardage for backing, binding and batting. • cutting mat and rotary cutter
