A nostepinne or Nostepinde is a tool used in the fiber arts to wind yarn into a ball for easily knitting, crocheting, or weaving from.

The ball of yarn formed by a nostepinne is a "center pull" ball, allowing the knitter to remove the working yarn from the center of the ball rather than the outside. This keeps the yarn from rolling around the surface the yarn is sitting on and provides a more consistent tension. Depending on the technique used, the wound yarn can be in the form of balls or cakes.

Fuming Oak with Ammonia was popular at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century among the Arts and Crafts movement and with Mission style furniture in the US.
The Ammonia gas reacts with the tannins in the Oak turning the wood anywhere from a dark black to a nut brown depending on the tannin levels, which varies between heartwood and sapwood, and the time spent in the fume box. Unlike staining this is a chemical reaction that goes deep into the wood and will not rub off or be affected by scratches or wear.

Very smooth and well-made and seems well-balanced (it'll be awhile before I get to try it out)

Carefully packed and well made. I love it! It's got a good weight to it and the wood is smooth, so yarn doesn't catch on it. DEFINITE upgrade from the paper towel rolls and wooden spoons.

A truly beautiful Knitting tool!!! It's smooth and even and has a beautiful shine. I can smell the cedar as I use it and I love that! Shipping was fast and it was packaged well to avoid breaks and cracks. Adding this shop to my favorites!
