Make scrappy triangle units without ever cutting a triangle. This couldn't be easier and will please the herpetologist in your life.

• Pattern uses 5" squares to make clever triangle units without ever cutting or sewing a triangle.
• Folksy snakes run in both directions on a modern, asymmetric background that shows off your quilting. I quilted concentric lines with a walking foot in the white space and did free-motion fancy quilting to set off the colorful snakes.
• Don’t worry If you don’t like to make yoyos or embroider. Yoyo eyes may be replaced with buttons or applique, and the snakes look great with knotted yarn or pearl cotton tongues or without tongues. Have fun and make this your own.
• Finishes about 60” x 52”.

The snakes on Crowley’s Ridge scramble for winter shelter in the fall. This can lead to surprises for snakes and humans. We’ve run into gorgeous snakes of all colors, including blue racers, snakes who play dead when discovered, and others who were tiny and toothless, but who pretended to have big rattles to scare us off.
Vivid fabrics in batiks, geometrics and even florals make wonderful snakes that remind me of the little guys in our wooded yard.
