I've always had n icord knitter (or lucet), even as a child. But I wanted to be able to knit art yarns, pencil roving and chunky cotton into ropes or cords. And in came my very handy partner Brian and helped me develop this simple but efficient tool. In the meantime father/ son team of wood workers Adrian and Coby Hollier in Roberts Creek, BC, went even further with it and gave it its final improvements.
Made entirely from wood, it has a 1 inch opening which easily fits thick-and-thin-spun yarns, pencil yarn, etc. The knitted rope is hollow which also allows you to use the knit as a cover for thin objects such as wooden dowel, sticks, wire or metal rods.
It has a pleasant beeswax/ walnut oil finish.
It comes with instructions, a burlap project bag, 15 meters of naturally dyed 2 ply yarn and 2 double-pointed bamboo needles of different thicknesses.
Applications for rope knits are endless. Get inspired by browsing through my store or come up with your very own designs!
