This is a fabulous piece of vintage Coro manufacture. Coro stopped production in 1979 and many of their pieces are now collectible. The stamp was on the clasp which I had to remove in order to convert the brooch for knitting. It's in excellent vintage condition, the finish is mirror bright and all the components are secure. The rounded star has 12 points, 6 of them accented by lively rhinestones. The blue center disc, plastic I think, bears a high relief arrangement of pearl like beads surrounding a single larger rhinestone. Photos don't do this justice, it's beautiful. Dark and light spots are reflections. 1 1/2" across and 1 7/8" north to south including the hook.
The clasp has been removed and a neodymium magnet* has been attached to convert it for use in Portuguese knitting. An inner magnet is backed with a metal disc which is, in turn, backed with felt for comfort against the skin. It is slipped inside your top to secure the pin.
The hook has been hand formed to fit the back. It is sturdy and stationary making it easy and quick to place and remove the yarn.
Please remember these are conversions. There may be remainders of the original fittings that couldn’t be removed without damage.
*Those with medical electronic devices should check on the use of these magnets.
If you’re buying more than one item, put them into the shopping cart for combined shipping charges at checkout. It’ll be less than purchasing them individually. This is particularly effective for international buyers. If you have a friend or friends who also do Portuguese knitting, purchasing a few pins at the same time adds only a few dollars to the initial cost, and when divided among several people, brings the shipping charges down to a manageable amount when shipped to one address.
