Item details

This diamond tipped stainless steel drill bit is great for drilling small holes in glass and ceramics. You can use it in a high speed drill like a Dremel or Foredom to make small 2.1 mm holes and also use it for carving and etching.

The best way to use this bit when drilling holes in glass is with a cordless Dremel. Put a piece of bubble wrap or foam in a small bowl, place your glass piece on the bubble wrap then add a little bit of water, just enough to cover the piece. The water will cool down the glass to avoid overheating and will also catch the glass dust. The bubble wrap will protect your bowl and table in case you drill too deeply.

Hold the glass in the bowl with a couple fingers and hold the drill in your other hand. With the drill on, touch the drill to the glass at a 45 degree angle to start the hole then as soon as it bites into the glass straighten the drill to 90 degrees and pierce through the glass. Use a light touch with the drill. Tap the drill in and out of the hole while you drill- this will move water into the hole and flush out the glass debris.

Be patient and gentle. Too much pressure and you will break your glass. Depending on the thickness of your glass piece, it might take 15 - 30 seconds to drill through. AND remember to wear your safety glasses!

I use these bits all the time and they work great!!! They do wear out so if you find that it's taking a really long time to drill a piece, it probably means it's time for a new bit. It totally depends on the thickness and kind of glass that you drill but you can typically drill 15 - 20 holes in 1/4" glass before they wear out.

Measures 2.1 mm wide and 25.4 mm long (1 3/8" inches)

***First thing - I do indeed do combined shipping and refund any extra postage back. Yey!!***

I ship via USPS Mail and Federal Express. Unless stated differently in the listings, I try to ship out within three business days after payment clears and sometimes even that same day if you happen to catch me on the way to the post office! (The leather wristbands take closer to 5 business days because I have to cut them to size and add snaps.)

I figure out the shipping rates based on the weight and size of the objects. All domestic purchases under 13 ounces ship First Class Mail. Anything above 13 ounces ships Priority Mail or Fed Ex.

Outside the US, I ship all packages weighing less than 4 pounds and up to the maximum size allowable via International First Class Mail (it's the most economical way and saves you money). All other packages ship via International Priority Mail.

***** Please note - USPS and Fed Ex delivery time estimates are guidelines only and not a guarantee as to when the item will actually be delivered. If all goes well you'll receive your item within 10 days but please allow up to three weeks to receive your order within the US and up to 8 weeks to receive your International order. (Sometimes items get hung up in the Customs office and it delays delivery of your purchase.)

Please contact me if you absolutely need to have something by a certain date and I can arrange to upgrade your item to be delivered by an outside courier company.

***** Please allow extra time for your delivery during the holiday season. It is the US Post Office's busy season and things can take longer especially when there is bad weather involved.

Any customs fees incurred in shipping internationally are the responsibility of the buyer so please keep this in mind when placing your order. In keeping with the law, all packages are marked as "merchandise".

Payments

Here is a very helpful explanation which details the entire checkout process:
http://www.etsy.com/help_guide_checkout.php

I try to ship out everything within 4 days of the order being placed and payment going through. ****HOWEVER IF YOU ORDERED LEATHER WRISTBANDS - PLEASE allow 5 business days for these to ship out - I cut them to size and add the snaps myself so it takes me a little extra time.***

So you know - E-checks take a little longer to clear - typically 4 days if you're in the US and up to 10 days everywhere else. It's a drag of a wait but in those cases, I wrap everything up and have it ready to ship out as soon as possible! Thank you!!!

Returns & exchanges

I hope that you are happy with your purchase but do accept returns under certain circumstances. Please contact me within 3 days of receiving your purchase if you have any questions.

Please note that shipping fees are not refundable (that's because the money you sent me for shipping was indeed spent to ship it to you). But please contact me and maybe we can work something out.

Additional policies

**** Please note - if you live in California, sales tax of 9% on the items purchased will be added to your total. Thanks! *****
