This listing is for the download of a PDF sewing pattern to make a woman's western lined jacket in Misses Sizes 6-24 (see sizing chart). It is NOT for a physical paper pattern. The jacket has a standup collar, princess seams and zipper front.
The photos are of garments made by SuitAbility customers using a previous version of this pattern (see below) and are not for sale. Credits: Blue jacket with stars by Lisa Moody, white jacket by Becky, and blue jacket with white trim by Debbie North. All embellishments were added by these customers and are not included in the pattern.
The PDF file includes instructions illustrated with diagrams and the jacket and blouse pattern pieces. The sizes are nested. Download the file using Adobe Reader and print out the pages using 8 1/2" by 11" or A4 paper.
DO NOT FOLLOW READY-TO-WEAR SIZING! See the measurement charts above to choose a size.
It is very important to check jacket, sleeve, and back neck-to-waist lengths BEFORE cutting out. Make sure that the sleeves are long enough to hold a lead rope as you will in halter and showmanship classes. If the bodice needs to be shortened or lengthened, consider whether this needs to be done above the waist (alteration lines are given on the pattern pieces) or at the hem. The back should fit smoothly and not pull across the shoulders.
We highly recommend making a sample garment out of an inexpensive fabric in order to test the fit.
This pattern can be made with a wide variety of medium weight woven fabrics such as gabardines, twills, and linen-looks. Any typical lining fabric such as polyester, nylon, or rayon is suitable. Fusible interfacing is used for the collar and zipper reinforcement. Depending upon what fabric you are using, if you’d like a crisper, more structured look interface the entire jacket body (fronts, side fronts, backs, and side backs) with a lightweight fusible.
Fabric and zipper requirements are given above.
Also needed: 24” one-way separating zipper, shoulder pads, thread.
PLEASE NOTE: This PDF pattern is the same front zipper jacket as in the discontinued SuitAbility paper version Pattern 5300.
Your files will be available to download once payment is confirmed. Here's how.
