Sewing Pattern, Double Collar Upcycling Pattern by Paganoonoo. Featured on It's Sew Easy PBS series 1300.

Add instant flair to any dress shirt by adding a double collar. With this upcycling pattern you can successfully remove a collar from an existing dress shirt and transfer it to a second shirt, creating a double collar. Add that special touch to your upcycled shirt today!

UPCYCLING is taking something existing, like clothing, and transforming it into something of greater value. Have you always wanted to upcycle clothing but don't know where to start? Or perhaps you've done a bit of upcycling and would like a leg up in creating something fabulous?

The DOUBLE COLLAR Pattern • Hard Copy Patterns you receive by mail.

DESIGN FEATURES: Three different double collar styles with step by step instructions for each style.

No actual pattern pieces are required as upcycling is a process of deconstruction and reconstruction. Basic sewing skills are needed. With the pattern instructions and illustrations you will know exactly what and where to cut, and how to assemble the pieces. The pattern answers questions like:

- What if both the collars I want to use are not the same size?
- What differs between an inside and outside collar mounting?
- How exactly do I attach the collar?
- Two collars layered together are really thick, how can I help my machine handle the thickness?
- My second collar will not stand up, what is needed?
- What do I do with the extra fabric below the collar band on the harvested collar?

Save yourself time and aggravation. We’ve worked out the kinks and made upcycling a double collar simple!

How did Paganoonoo Patterns come about?
Without assistance it is not always easy to come up with an upcycled design you will proudly wear in public. Trust me, I made my share of wadders when I first started upcycling (still do occasionally). And I am committed to the “greening” of fashion. Remaking new clothes out of old is logical and appealing so…

As I experimented, I thought if I, as a trained fashion designer, am having trouble producing good results in a reasonable amount of time I wonder how others are fairing? And what I can do to make a difference? I set to work to develop reproducible designs, document the instruction steps and pair them with numerous illustrations. Paganoonoo Patterns were born.

See Designer Michelle Paganini’s article on upcycling in the Threads Magazine Feb/March 2015 issue! She was also featured on It's Sew Easy series 1300 and 1400. Her segment on Double Collars is available on YouTube .

Upcycling our existing clothes into new fashions is good for the planet, and really great on the budget!!
