Item details

This is an awesome camera that I have cleaned up and tested. It is in excellent working condition. I have tested it with 600 type Color Shade Instant Film from The Impossible Project.

The Talking Polaroid Camera is great for parties and functions as you can program is to play a pre-recorded message every time you press the shutter button or have it say one of the 3-pre programmed messages on it.

I have cleaned up the camera and lens with rubbing alcohol and a whole lot of Q-tips and cotton balls. This camera is in pretty good condition. There are a few scuffs that you can see in the pictures, but do not affect the camera. I have inspected and cleaned the rollers and moving parts in the camera. You can see in the last picture a Polaroid that I took with the camera.

Camera comes in Original Box and Manual as well.

Camera History:

Designed for Polaroid's 600-series integral film, the 636 Talking Camera has a unique gimmick. Along with a couple of pre-recorded messages, the camera can also be used to record speech (or music) which is played via a loudspeaker just before firing of the shutter. It works in a similar way to a digital answering machine. The sound effects can be switched off completely if desired. The pre-recorded messages apparently vary according to the territory the camera was marketed in, and include American and Spanish versions. The UK version has "Smile, you're on Polaroid!" and "Don't say Cheddar, say CHEESE!" said in a comedy accent.

When the loudspeaker is turned off, this camera functions in much the same way as a standard OneStep 600, with fixed focus and automatic flash. A sliding close-up lens is included, but it tends to make images even softer than usual. Although marketed as a fun camera for taking close-up snapshots at parties and family reunions, picture quality is better when focussing over longer distances out of doors in bright

You can find film from the Impossible Project in Black and White and in Color

I would also go over their individual websites that talk about the film itself. I went through a lot of film before I started to get the hang of it. I would read the following:

Please let me know if you have any questions.

**** All of my "film tested" cameras are tested with actual film, and not an empty film cartridge to see if it powers up and goes through the motions. I am making sure that everything works (shutter, mechanics, spreader bars, etc.. ), and that the pictures come out and are able to develop. Film is not cheap so that is why the cameras are a little more expensive than some other shops. I am giving you the peace of mind that the camera is definitely going to work when you put unused film in it! ***
